(hear her!) roar...

(Collage. 24 x 18 cm)

Friends, sisters blanket girls

For Inspire Me Thursday - "Intimacy".

I decided to go digital, for once. Not that I know much about how to enhance pictures digitally, mind you - but I wanted to have some fun. And I did. :)

The original is a photo of me and my best friend, Jennie. (I am the shorter one.) I love her so much.

so they went years and years
like sisters blanket girls
always there through that and this
there's nothing we cannot ever fix i said

(Tori Amos, "Bells for Her", Under the Pink, 1994. Full lyrics)

(Joyce Carol Oates, Djur, 2002)

Orden träffar mig rakt i hjärtat.

Dream Me

(Mixed media. Acrylic ink, water colours and gouache. 31 x 41 cm)
500 kr

i walked into your dream
and now i've forgotten
how to dream my own dream

(Tori Amos, "Mother", Little Earthquakes, 1992. Full lyrics.)

For Illustration Friday - "The Blues".

I started on this last weekend, but did not know quite how to finish it. Tonite, though, I only needed to add a few details, inspired by the IF theme, and voila! there she was!

The colours are slightly darker in reality and the few dark red details seem to have disappeared altogether - why is it so difficult to take a good photograph of a painting?! But I do hope the feelings behind this painting is conveyed anyway.

For Inspire Me Thursday - "Square".
I love this song, and I have always wanted to use it as an inspiration for a painting. I don't know why, but for some reason the word "square" put together with these lines, which came to my mind immediately when I read about this week's challenge, was what (finally) started off my imagination.

OK, so I might have interpreted "square" loosely, but hey, artistic license and all that! :)

OBS!

kvinna i soffa

(Blandteknik. Akvarell, gouache. 31 x 41 cm)
500 kr

No thank you no thank you no thank you no thank you
I ain't about to to die like this
I couldn't afford chemo like I couldn't afford a limo
And besides this shit is making me tired
it's making me tired
it's making me tired
You know I plan to retire some day,
And I'm gonna go out in style
go out in style

(Regina Spektor, "Chemo Limo", Soviet Kitch, 2004. Hela texten finns här)

The Fool That I Am

(Mixed media. Gouache and acrylic ink on paper, 31 x 41 cm/12 x 16 inc)

Inspired by William Butler Yeats' (1865-1939) poem "He Wishes for the Cloths of Heaven":

Had I the heavens' embroidered cloths,
Enwrought with golden and silver light,
The blue and the dim and the dark cloths
Of night and light and the half-light,
I would spread the cloths under your feet:
But I, being poor, have only my dreams;
I have spread my dreams under your feet;
Tread softly because you tread on my dreams.

For Illustration Friday - "Poem".

I love poetry, and this poem in particular, even if it was difficult to choose one poem among all my favourite ones. In the end, I rather think the painting chose the poem instead of the other way around. :)

Disclaimer: Unfortunately, it was difficult to take a good photograph of this painting. I hope you get the picture (heh, pun intended), though.

*suck*
